Wie drops to tie for fifth mid way through final round of Canadian Open
Mid way through the final round of the Canadian Open Michelle Wie has slipped into a tie for fifth place.
Wie, 21 years old for Hawaii, is the defending Canadian Champion, but faltered during the mid holes of the final round to drop to 1 over for the day and 11 under for the Open.
With six holes to go the weather has turned cold and windy with a slight drizzle which makes it difficult for the Stanford student to make a comeback.
At the end of regulation Wie shot a par 72 to finish in a tie for second at 12 under par.

Wie advances to Day 3 of Match Play in New Jersey
Sybase Match Play Championship – Day 2
Michelle Wie laid up on the 18th hole of match play at the Sybase Match Play Tourney which opened the door to Anna Nordquist during day 2.
Wie’s decision to play it safe on the final hole resulted in a tie and lead to the match going to an additional hole.
In the 19th hole Wie had one of her typical long drives, keeping the ball down the middle of the fairway.
Wie from Honolulu, Hawaii and representing the United States, showed remarkable confidence during the playoff holes as she had the driving advantage.
Wie is seeded 9th while Nordquist is the 22nd seed. South Korean Na Yeon Choi is seeded #1 in match play.
Wie had several opportunities to put the match away, but failed to take advantage of the situation, leaving the door open for Nordquist.
Wie had a birdie putt from the fringe in the 20th hole that would have won it for her, but her attempt barely missed to the right.
Nordquist needed a par to extend the match to the 21st hole, a fifteen footer, but her stoke placed the ball beyond the hole allowing Wie to win and advance to Day 3.
Wie said she was excited to move into Saturday’s match play and stated that she made some mistakes, but was happy to have advance.
