Ivo, geat person since he was a child, I used to surf with him during the early 60′s at most surf spots in Peru, as we belonged to the group called the C.C.C. (collera de corredores capos).
Please send him my best regards and appreciation.
Actually I’m 70 years old and in my mind I always remember his drops at Pico Alto on a July 06 am.(winter) without wet suit, also a late afternoon ripping up and down the outer break of miraflores.. (reventazon).

…Just learned of Wayne’s passing. : (
We will miss his coverage of our local athletes and athletic events around the island. We will miss the human interest stories he wrote about and the personalities he featured. Mostly, we will miss seeing him in action among athletes young and old, doing what he did best….creating perspective. Thank you Wayne for years of providing a forum for readers like us to keep up with all the wonderful activities around the island and thank you for supporting our athletes in their pursuit of greatness! It is with great sadness that we read of the passing of a great and inspiring man, Wayne “Big Dog Joeseph. He has been an inspiration to many and his Legacy will live on here in this great state of Hawaii, and in the U.S.A. In the short 2 years I have known him, his spirt and encouragement means much to me and my wife. May God Bless His Soul and bring Peace to all who knew him.

Apparently, yesterday Big Dog lost his fight with cancer. Always
appreciated what he did for the running community on the Big Island. I
think a lot of people took for granted the XC and track article that he
did, but it’s something that really made the sport a lot more enjoyable
during high school. He was always a big supporter of mine and I’ll never
forget the encouragement and support he gave me. RIP Wayne “Big Dog”
