Running with the Big Dog

Walking Shihlin Night Market

Shihlin Night Market in Taipei, Taiwan

Shihlin Night Market in Taipei, Taiwan

Looking to stay fit and healthy while on vacation, then find the closest shopping area and walk, walk, walk.

Randee and I discovered the largest shopping area in all of Taiwan, the Shihlin Night Market.

Walking from one end to the other and back can take several hours and makes for a wonderful cultural experience.

Most people speak some English and everyone barters.

Food is great and people are charming.

More will follow on Taiwan in Mondays, Running with the Big Dog.  Now to look at trying something new for dinner.

  1. Taipei rocks! They’ve got an unreal public transportation system and an incredible “flow” for being such a mega populated city. I’ve been pining to return and your post is a great carrot for me. It’s my stop over when I vacation in Indonesia. The night markets are great and the people are wonderful.

  2. Glad your able to post from overseas!

Look forward to more travel pictures.

Just seeing this picture brings a weird sense of smell to me reminding me of the Chinatown shops of Honolulu.

I really didn’t like the smells, but I sure enjoyed observing things.

  4. It looks like Hawaii’s loss is Asia’s gain. Great story.
