Ryan Brathwaite won the only gold medal for the island country of Barbados when he won the 110-meter hurdles at the World Championship Games in Berlin last month.

Brathwaite hit the tape in what was described as a photo finish, clocking 13.14 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles with American Terrence Trammell finishing one hundredth of a second behind.

At 21 years of age, Brathwaite became the youngest champion in the history of the event at the IAAF world Championships and the first athlete from Barbados to not only win a medal, but a gold medal in this event.
