Big Day for BIIF Sports

BIIF cross-country championships today at Kamehameha

BIIF cross-country championships today at Kamehameha

There is an exciting day in sports here on the Big Island as high school athletes from around the island compete in a variety of Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular season and league titles.

    The BIIF individual air riflery championships are up from grabs as Waiakea has already won their 12th consecutive title.

   Konawaena plays host to the individual riflery championships starting at 10 am today.

  BIIF individual bowling championships also get under way at 10 am at Hilo Lanes.  Hilo has already won the girls team title while Kona and Kamehameha fight for the boy’s team title.

   BIIF volleyball championships will see Waiakea and Kamehameha battle for the title in Division I and Hilo, HPA, and Honokaa fight it out for the Division II crown.  Games are being played at Waiakea High gym starting at 3 pm

   BIIF Cross-Country championships are being held at Kamehameha with the boys starting at 3:15 and the girls race to follow.  Honokaa is favored to win the boys team title and HPA is a strong favorite for the girl’s crown.

   In BIIF regular season football it Honokaa at Keaau and Kealakehe playing Hilo at Wong Stadium with both varsity games getting under way around 7:30 pm

   This blog will cover the BIIF cross-country championships and have full results, photo’s and a story up later this evening.
