UH Rainbow Wahine upsets Alabama to reach College World Series

UH softball team is indeed a WINNER!

The Rainbow Wahine shocked number one Alabama, winning on the Crimson Tide home field, 5-4 to reach the Women’s College World Series for the first time in the school’s history.

Jenna Rodriguez became the hero by launching a two out home run for the Rainbows in the bottom of the seventh and final inning to beat ‘Bama in Tuscaloosa.

‘Bama was on a 28-game win streak before running into the Rainbow powerhouse team.  The Crimson Tide dropped two games to the Wahine, 8-7 on Saturday, before losing the title game in the Super Regional today.

The Rainbows came into the game as the 16th seed and upset the nation’s best to earn their first ever ticket to the College World Series in Oklahoma City.

The University of Hawaii will face the Missouri Tigers on Thursday to open the College World Series.  UH heads to Oklahoma with a record of 49-14 and leads the nation with a record 154 team home runs.

UH’s Kelly Majam leads the nation with 30 home runs this season and will lead the Cinderella Rainbows to the big dance starting on June 4.

GO BOWS!!!!
