Russian takes over #1 spot in the World for 800 meters
Mariya Savinova is worlds best at 800 meters
Mariya Savinova (born 13 August 1985) is a Russian middle distance runner who specializes in the 800 meters.
Savinova has now taken over the number one spot in the world for the 800 m distance and is considered the woman to beat.
She won the gold medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships. She also competed at the 2008 World Indoor Championships, but without reaching the final round.
Her personal best time is 1:57.90 minutes, achieved in July 2009 in Moscow. She has 1:58.10 minutes on the indoor track, achieved at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin.
