Big Island Running Company offering free training program

BIRC owners, Jason & Melissa Braswell

Big Island Running Company is starting a Couch to 5k Training Program to get you from the couch to completing the Jingle Bell Run 5k on Sunday, December 19! No prior running experience is necessary and the program is FREE!

The first meeting will be next Tuesday, October 19 at 5 p.m. at Big Island Running Company in the Coconut Grove Marketplace. At that meeting, we’ll outline the basics of the program and some beginner running tips in general.  After that meeting, we’ll start our first “run”, so come prepared to workout.  The first run will be 20 minutes of run/walk intervals.

The program will consist of three days of running/walking per week, which will be scheduled to coincide with our group runs at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday (current running group participants – please note the time change on Tuesday/Thursday from 6 p.m.).  If you can’t make these times, don’t worry, you can still complete the program on your own.  The Jingle Bell Run will take place on Sunday, December 19 at 7:30 a.m. starting at Kailua Pier and going south down Alii Drive.  The race is also free.

If you are interested in this program, please complete the attached registration form and either email it to melissa@bigislandrunningcompany.com or bring it to the meeting next week. If you have any questions, you can email melissa@bigislandrunningcompany.com or call 327-9333.  Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone else who may be interested.
