BIG ISLAND INTERANTIONAL MARATHON SOLD OUT

The Big Island International Marathon, half marathon and 5K run/walk scheduled for Sunday, March 20, is completely sold out according to BIIM president, Roland Higashi.

“This is the first time in our 14 year history of this event that we have sold all 300 marathon, 300 half marathon and 300 5K openings,” Higashi said.

The international running event will have more than 100 participants from Japan and over 300 participants from the continental U.S as well as runners and walkers from Canada, Great Britain, and elsewhere.

The BIIM will not be accepting any further entries into any of its 2011 races according to Higashi.

The BIIM will be hosting a free health and fitness expo in conjunction with packet pick up from noon to 6 pm at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel’s Moku Ola on Saturday, March 19 and the public is invited.
