Nangarhar, Afghanistan Unit to do Hilo Half Marathon on March 20
On Sunday, March 20, is the Big Island International Marathon in Hilo, Hawaii, but far away, in Afghanistan, members of the U. S. Army will be having their own Hilo Half Marathon by running around their compound on the same day and time as our race.
A brainchild of SM Sgt Jerry Blankenship of Nangarhar ADT IV NCOIC the group will rounds laps around their compound in order to finish the 13.1 mile half marathon requirement.
The Big Island Marathon will send finisher tee shirts and finisher medals to all that complete the distance.
