Japanese 10 year old finishes Hilo Marathon

Father and Son finish BIIM

Father and son Atsushi and Kaina Kato from Tokyo, Japan ran the full 26.2 mile Big Island International Marathon on March 20, 2011.

Kaina became the youngest BII marathon finisher in the events 14 year history as he is just 10 years of age.

Father and son clocked in at 5 hours 33 minutes and 54 seconds.

Dad carried the Japanese flag the entire way and both were all smiles as they approached the finish line.

Big Dog, race director, agreed to allow the young Japanese runner in the race provided his father would be with him the entire way, but that was dads intention from the get go.

Congratulations to both.
