Tetsuya & Kaori Yoshida from Tokyo are first to enter 2012 BIIM

The Yoshida's finish 2011 BIIM race

Tetsuya and wife Kaori Yoshida completed the 2011 Big Island International Marathon and became the first to sign up for the March 18, 2012 race.

The couple, from Tokyo, Japan, woke up late for the 2011 race and needed to take a taxi to the starting line in Pepeekeo, one hour after everyone else started.

None the less they managed to pass many people along the course and had a wonderful time finishing their third BIIM race.  They finished in 5 hours and 55 minutes.

Tetsuya was the inspiration around the BIIM making black ribbons to show caring for the recent disasster in Japan.  We welcome our two Japanese visitors back with open arms and look forward to seeing them again next year.
