Keaau High Fitness Class ends semester with 5K run in Hilo

Keaau’s Fitness Class

Jon Taketa’s Keaau High School Fitness class concludes the school year by running a 5K along Hilo Bayfront.

Taketa, the physical education teacher for the Cougars, believes in the value of running as a great aerobic exercise.
Students from Kea’au High School in Mr. Taketa’s Body Conditioning class participated in their annual 5K fitness run which was held on Wednesday down at Coconut Island/Liliuokalani Park.
“In class, students are taught the fundamentals of physical fitness and the benefits of living healthy active lifestyles with the intention that it’ll carry over into the rest of their lives.  The weather held up and everyone succeeded in meeting their personal goals,” Taketa said.
