BIRR annual election fun run at Richardson Beach Park – Dec 18, 2011
The Big Island Road Runners will be hosting the BIRR Annual Election Fun Run to be held at Richardson Beach Park on Sunday, December 18th at 7:30am.
The run is free and open to the public. That morning they will be accepting donations for the Hawaii Island United Way. These donations will be added to the amount from the HIUW Resolution 5k Run on January 7, 2012 and sent to the non-profit charity.
Richardson Beach Park is located near Keaukaha in Hilo at the east end of Kalanianaole Avenue. Please look for the BIRR signs.
The BIRR request that participants arrive early to sign in and receive final instructions. The out and back course begins at the park and heads along Kalanianaole Avenue (west).
The BIRR will be holding their Annual Meeting and club elections following the run along with a potluck. Feel free to join them and bring some refreshments for all to enjoy. Post run drinks will be offered.
Due to the low turnout at our Election Relay on November 12th, we will be having our elections again this Sunday after the 2 and 4 mile runs. The current Board will not be pursuing another year in their positions. That means that all positions will be available (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary) along with an At-Large Board Member to make the total of five Board members.
If you are interested in continuing the tradition of club events, please consider being nominated for the Board. If there are no new nominations, club events will cease on January 31, 2012. The 2011-2012 Board will then determine the best direction for the club’s programs, equipment and assets.
