Two $1000 College Scholarships being offered to prep Runners
Big Island Road Runners College Scholarship
The Big Island Road Runners will again be offering a $1000 scholarship to a public school senior boy and girl that ran cross country and/or track during their high school career and have been accepted into college.
Applicants must have a 2.5 grade point average or higher and write a 200 – 300 word essay on “how running has influenced or affected your life.”
Mailed in applications must be postmarked by April 19, 2010 to be eligible.

11. Summarize your non-scholastic running achievements, road-racing, cross country, track, personal records, etc.
12. Summarize your community or charitable activities including volunteer work .
13. Briefly state your goals and aspirations for college and beyond.
Essay
Please write neatly or type a 200 -300 word essay on: “how running has influenced or affected your life and how might it in the future; how do you feel about running and its challenges, trials, tribulations, and rewards – both mental and physical; your favorite types of workouts or practices; and what role running has played in your high school accomplishments. (Essays become the property of BIRR and may be used wholly or partially within club and/or newspaper publications)

- One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one male. (non-renewable)
- One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one female. (non-renewable)

The deadline to mail in applications for consideration for the Big Island Road Runners Scholarship Program is Monday, April 20.

BIRR SCHOLARSHIP ENTRIES DUE
The BIRR offers two $1000 college scholarships to a senior boy and girl from a Big Island public school. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be a runner.
A 200 to 300 word essay on “how running has influenced or affected your life and how it might in the future” must accompany the signed application form.
