World’s Top 3 Female Track & Field Athletes for 2010

SANYA RICHARDS-ROSS  – USA – 200 & 400 meter dash world champion

Sanya Richards-Ross (USA), the 2009 World Athlete of the Year and one of 14 IAAF Diamond League Ambassadors, participated in a media conference call this afternoon. Richards-Ross, the reigning World Champion in the 400m, who has already confirmed her participation in the inaugural IAAF Diamond League meeting in Doha (14 May), in Oslo (4 June) and Eugene (3 July). She opens her season on Saturday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

World’s Best Decathlete, Bryan Clay, is a Castle Grad

Bryan Clay, world's best all around track & field athlete

Bryan Ezra Tsumoru Clay (born January 3, 1980) is an American decathlete.  He is the reigning Olympic  champion and was also a World  in 2005.

Clay was born in Austin, Texas  and raised in Hawaii. He is Afro-Asian. His mother, Michele Ishimoto, was a Japanese immigrant to America. His father, Greg Clay, was African-American. His parents divorced when he was in elementary school and he was raised primarily by his mother.

Clay has a younger brother, Nikolas, who was also a standout athlete on the Azusa Pacific University track team.

He graduated from James B. Castle High School (Kaneohe, Hawaii) in 1998.

Bryan Clay lead the heptathon competition in Doha, Qatar

From DOHA, Qatar -Olympic champion Bryan Clay led Trey Hardee in the heptathlon competition at the world indoor championships Saturday with only the 1,000-meter race left.

Clay matched Hardee in the pole vault with jumps of 5 meters for a 46-point lead. Aleksey Drozdov of Russia was third.

In the women’s pentathlon, Jessica Ennis of Britain was in the lead after three events. The outdoor world champion won the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump before Olympic champion Natallia Dobrynska of Ukraine won the shot put.

Ennis led with 3,021 points, 18 more than the Ukrainian.
