Wie Struggles on Day 3 of Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Ala

Michelle Wie

Wie shoots 76, falls to bottom of leader board at Bell Micro LPGA Classic

Hawaii’s own heart throb on the golf links, Michelle Wie, struggled to a 4-over par 76 today and was at the bottom of the leader board in the third round of the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Ala.

Wie, a Punahou alum and Stanford student, was at 5-over 221 and tied for last (72nd) when she finished today. Leader Se Ri Pak, who was at 9-under 135 after the second round, was to tee off later in the day.

Wie got off to a rocky start today with three bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine to make the turn at 5 over. She had another bogey on the par-4 No. 10 to go to 6 over before getting consecutive birdies on the par-4 No. 15 and par-5 No. 16.

Despite her poor showing Wie still commands a large gallery of fans that follow her on every hole.

The final round is tomorrow at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove and I bet Michelle will have a good final round.
