Rainbow track & field athlete, Amber Kaufman, receives National Recognition
- Amber Kaufman is a two-sport athlete, as well as an Academic All-American in the WAC in both volleyball and track and field. In 2009 she finished with a bronze medal in the high jump and became the first UH medalist at the national level in more than 25 years. This past season she helped lead the UH Rainbow Wahine team to the NCAA national semi-finals.
Kaufman placed third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the high jump and became the first UH athlete to medal at the event in 25 years…named USTFCCCA All-American during both indoor and outdoor seasons…smashed the school high jump record and posted the nation’s second-best jump of 6-4 (1.93m) at the WAC Outdoor Championship, where she won gold and was named co-Field Athlete of the Meet…became the first UH athlete to win an NCAA Regional event with a jump of 6-1.5…placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships…captured the WAC Indoor Championship high jump gold medal…named to USTFCCCA and WAC all-academic teams.
