HHSAA baseball honors Wally Yonamine
This year the HHSAA is honoring Hawaii baseball pioneer and title sponsor Wally Yonamine, who passed away Feb. 28 at the age of 85 after a long battle with cancer. Please see the attached article written by HHSAA staff member Wes Nakama, which will also appear in the tournament program.

TELEVISION: OC16 will live coverage of the HHSAA baseball Division I first round on Wednesday, May 4 at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. match-up will feature OIA sixth place Roosevelt Rough Riders (9-7) versus the OIA third place Kailua Surfriders (13-1-1). The 7:00 p.m. night-cap will feature OIA fourth place Mililani Trojans (10-5) versus ILH runner-up Mid-Pacific Owls (14-4).
OC16’s next and final state baseball coverage will be on Saturday, May 7 with the Division II championship game slated for 4:00 p.m., followed by the Division I championship game at 7:00 p.m. All games will be live from the University of Hawaii Les Murakami Stadium
RADIO COVERAGE:
Starcomm Sports Radio in partnership with ESPN 1420/1500 AM will have coverage of 14 DI and DII baseball games.
- May 4: ESPN 1500 will have all four DI first round games live from UH beginning at 12 noon.
- May 5: ESPN 1500 will carry all four DII first round games live from Hans L’Orange Field beginning with the 11:00 a.m. game.
- May 6: ESPN 1420 will have the 7:00 p.m. DI baseball semifinal game live from UH.
- May 7: ESPN 1420 will have live coverage of the DI consolation games at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., followed by the DII and DI championship games at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., respectively.
