CrossFit to Offer Olympic Lifting Seminar on Sept 11

CALLING ALL ATHLETES & COACHES: Olympic Lifting Seminar

Offered by CrossFit Big Island

Saturday, September 11th (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Join renowned Olympic Weightlifting Coach, Clay Reed, for a day-long seminar guaranteed to improve your lifts. With correct technique, Oly lifts help build explosive power and teach athletes speed, coordination and agility. The movements are common to many sports and will help to improve performance and avoid injury.

The day will include demonstrations, teaching progression with hands-on instruction and fault correction for the Snatch, the Clean and the Jerk. You’ll also have the chance to meet some great people from CrossFit gyms around the islands, enjoy Paleo food throughout the day and finish off with a potluck-style BBQ. Open to all ages/ability.  About Clay Reed:

USA Weightlifting Club Coach & CSCS

Clay Reed is a marine scientist with a stubborn olympic weightlifting habit. His coaching focuses on strong fundamentals he learned from Steve Gough, Mike Karchut, and Mike Burgener. Clay’s goal is to teach a solid foundation in olympic-style weightlifting to help athletes of all ages and levels develop explosive power. He has competed nationally and internationally as a master-level lifter and coached students at the University of Montana, including one to the national collegiate championships. Clay is certified as a USA Weightlifting (our official national Olympic weightlifting organization) Club Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  On August 18th, CrossFit Big Island is having a FREE Olympic Weightlifting seminar with master-level lifter and coach, Clay Reed.

 No matter what age or athletic ability, you’re going to want to check this one out. Learn the foundations of olympic-style weightlifting; improve your technique with hands-on instruction and learn how you can add speed, coordination and agility to your strength training and athletic performance.
