Big Dog’s Early Season Girl’s Cross-Country Favorites
Cross-country season has started with many of the schools around the state beginning to practice starting on August 2nd and some early season results are in.
Based on last season state championship results and what is going on thus far this season the Big Dog predicts the following top girls in the state:
1) Elli Brady, Punahou, sophomore, will repeat as state champion and dominate the ILH
2) Kimberly Pugliese, Mililani, senior, third in state
3) Sophie Curatilo, Moanalua, senior
4) Dakota Grossmann, Seabury Hall, freshman
5) Tialana Greenwell, Honokaa, senior, dominate runner in BIIF
6) Nadia Ramirez, Hilo, senior
7) Jessica Johnson, Kamehameha-Kapalama, senior
8) Kyleigh Mann, Punahou, junior
9) Julia Brand, Punahou, senior
10) Breanne Ball, Iolani, junior
11) Heidi Nicholls, Hawaii Baptist, senior
12) Kelsie Kobayashi, Waiakea, junior
13) Lauren Spears, Island School
Others to watch: Maile Shigemasa, Pearl City; Courtney Garner, Mililani; Kela Vargas, Hawaii Prep; Allie Shiraki, Honokaa; Lyssa Freitas, Maui; Shalila de Bournmont, Hilo; Rachael Bianchi, Kealakehe; Grace Choi, Makua Lani;
For the team championship it should be Punahou and Mililani battling it out again with Punahou coming out on top.

Your predictions look good with the exception of Jenkins from Mililani who has moved to Nebraska. Also, I would put Grossman much higher, probably 3rd or 4th, but for sure in the top 5 at this point.

I think Zoe Simms of HPA will turn some heads this year. She was third at Biifs last year and had a dissapointing States but I think she is someone to watch for.
We will know more about the biif after this upcoming race because they will all be racing each other for the first time this year. The Hilo girls have really upped the ante this year; so it’ll be interesting to see the next few races how Hilo, HPA, Honokaa, and Kealakehe fare.
